Home visits are offered by Public Health Nurses to new parents in Eau Claire for breastfeeding assistance and support. A Public Health Nurse home visit can include:
  • Infant weight check
  • Prenatal Breastfeeding education
  • Breastfeeding support and education 
  • Breastfeeding informational handouts
  • Referrals to resources
The Eau Claire Health Department encourages and supports breastfeeding as the best way to feed a baby.

Attend a Breastfeeding class and learn more about:
  • Benefits of breastfeeding for babies, mothers, and fathers
  • How breastfeeding works
  • Latching on and positioning 
  • Frequency and duration of feeding 
  • How to know your baby is getting enough to eat
  • Breast care
  • Strategies for returning to work or school
  • When and where to get help should you need it
Breastfeeding classes are held from 10:00-11:30 am on the fourth Tuesday and from 6:00-7:30 pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Eau Claire City-County Health Department. Call 715-577-6154 to register.
